The type of soil found in wetlands is called hydric soil. The definition of hydric soil is "
a soil that formed under conditions of saturation, flooding or ponding long enough during the growing season to develop anaerobic conditions in the upper part" (http://soils.usda.gov/use/hydric/intro.html). Hydric soil is found in areas where the soil is saturated with water most of the growing season, like in wetland biomes.
